New Spring Trend: Shirt Dress

Hey Everyone!

Today's blog post is on the new spring trend: shirt dress. Personally I really like the idea of a shirt dress, because it's really comfortable but can be super fashionable with the right styling. And that's what today's post is going to show you; 5 tips for styling a shirt dress!

1. Loose Fit: a loose fit is not only more flattering but more comfortable as well. Loose fit does not mean baggy or oversized, but rather a relaxed cut with room for movement.

2. Hem Length and Heel Height: a general rule to use when accessorizing your shirt dress is that the shorter the dress, the lower the heel.

3. Cinch the Waist: a shirt dress can be shape less, so add some shape by adding a belt around the waist.

4: Try a Print: if you want to mix it up, and have a little extra something in your outfit, try picking a shirt dress with a print.

5: Accessorize: a shirt dress can be simple and basic, add some flare with chic and on-trend accessories, try a watch or simply tie a plaid shirt around your waist!

Spring Dresses

Hello!

Happy Friday! Hope everyone had a great week and is going to have an even better weekend! Today's post is about spring's most flattering dresses for every shape. Whether you're athletic (like me), lean, curvy, petite, boyish or busty there is a perfect spring dress for you, just keep reading!!

1. Athletic: stick to dresses with minimalistic and architectural structures, but don't be afraid to risks here and there, try cutouts like below.

2. Lean: try classy pieces, that are fitted, which is fashion-forward, flattering, and appropriate for both a day and night. Don’t be afraid of prints, which add a bit of depth to your slender frame and won't overpower you.

3. Curvy: For a curvier figure, try dresses that stick to one or two colours. The shape should be one that cinches in at the waist, and in a style that hits right below the knee

4. Petite:  If you have a petite shape, try wearing girly, flowery looks and layers, mixed textures, or bright colours.

5. Boyish: Try new things and don’t be afraid to change it up, your narrow frame gives you a lot of freedom when it comes to silhouettes.

6: Busty: when choosing dresses for spring, focusing on modest v-necks that show just enough skin, narrowed waists, and flared hemlines.

3. Denim on Denim: A pair of white jeans and a chambray shirt is a great way to wear denim head-to-toe without feeling like its too much.

4. Casual Work Outfit: adding a lightweight blazer is great for casual Friday's or summer dress-down days. Stay sophisticated with a long line blazer in navy or black!

Sunday Fun-Day

Hello fashion lovers!

How is your weekend? Mine is great! I started reading a new book yesterday: #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso, the founder and CEO of Nasty Gal. I'm only four chapters in, but it is already so inspirational and I love it! If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

Reading the book made me look up Nasty Gal, at the time I was on my phone, so sure enough there was a Nasty Gal up that popped up. I decided to get the app, but then I search for other fashion apps, and Polyvore came up. And that's what today's blog post is about!

"Polyvore is a community powered social commerce website" - Wikipedia

It's basically a website where you can view and share fashion inspiration and ideas. The website has all these different tops, jackets, skirts, shorts, pants, shoes, accessories, etc. showing the price and the store to buy it at and you can use all these different items to make "sets".
As you can see to the below, you can get awesome styling ideas, see the latest trends, or even search for products you love.
This app is so much fun and the best part is that it's free!
I'll show you a few of the top sets below. A set is essentially an outfit all put together by other users and you can like their sets and follow them. It's like and Instagram just for fashion!

These are just a few examples of what you can do on this app! If you love fashion and playing with different looks this is definitely something you should look into. Even you you just need some outfit inspo, I would recommend this app! Click here to get the app for iPhone!

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed today's post!
See you next time!

Scarf-Sensational

Hello Fashionistas!

If you read Thursdays's post, you would have seen that I bought a Lord & Taylor scarf. This made me wonder how you can wear a scarf in the summer? So I did some research and found 8 awesome ways to rock a scarf this summer!

The first thing you have to do if you want to wear a scarf in the summer, is make sure it's lightweight. You don't want to be wearing a big wool scarf in the hot sun!

So look for a lightweight scarf with bright colours and fun summer patterns!

So here are 8 cool ways to wear a scarf in the summer!
  1. Hang Loose:
Just drape your scarf around your neck
  2. Simple Wrap
Keep it simple and stylish by just wrapping your scarf once around your neck
  3. Pull Through
For a interesting look, fold your scarf in half, drape it around your neck,
then pull the end through the opening
  4. Cowboy Knot
Try this cool look so you can play up a basic tank
  5. Faux Infinity Scarf
Just tie the ends of your scarf then wrap it twice around your neck
  6. Braid
Looks intricate and complicated, but its easy and so stylish!
  7. Purse
Add a simple pop of colour by tying your scarf around your purse!
  8. Head Band
Keep your hair out of your face, and stay colourful by wearing your scarf as a headband!
There you have it! 8 awesome ways to add a scarf to your summer outfit!
Be sure to let me know which one is your favourite!
